One day, Melia helped her parents for gardening. She likes to help her parents. In the garden, Melia saw so many flowers and a lot of grass. There were also many garden tools, like watering can, hose, and shovel.  Melia watered the flower using watering can. Her father cut the grass, and her mother watered the grass using hose. Melia was very happy and she felt like a gardener.

 

T: Students, it’s time for story telling. Do you want to hear a story?


S: Yes miss


T: The title of the story is “In the Garden” Look! This is Melia, this is her mother, and this is her father. (Pointing to the picture)


T: (Start the story telling)


S: (Listen to the teacher)


T: One day, Melia helped her parents for gardening. She likes to help her parents.

So who are they, students? (Pointing to the picture)


S: Melia, her mother, and her father


T: In the garden, Melia saw so many flowers and grasses. There were also so many garden tools, like watering can, hose, and so on.

Look, students! These are flowers and grasses. And this is a watering can and a hose. (Pointing to the picture)

Melia watered the flower using watering can. Her father cut the grass, and her mother watered the grass using hose.

Now, look, this is a hose. (Pointing to the picture)

Melia was very happy and she felt like a gardener.

Activity 4 (Game)

Whisper Game:

The students sit in a circle. Teacher whisper a word in the next Student’s ear (e.g. "A flower").  Then the student whispers that in the next Student's ear and so on until the last Student.  The last student then says the word out loud to see if it's the same as the original message.

T: Students, now, let’s play a game. Do you want to play with me?


S: Yes miss


T: Now, please make the circle

S: (Make the circle)

T: I will whisper a word to one of you and then you will whisper that to your friend until the last one. The last student must say the word out loud. Do you understand?

S: Yes miss.

One day, Tom and Marsha walking through the jungle. Along the way, Tom and Marsha saw a lot of bushes around them. But, they were not afraid. They kept walking and walking. In the middle of the jungle, Tom and Marsha felt tired and stopped near the river. They sat under a shady tree. Suddenly, they hear a sound. The sound came from within the bushes. They were a little scared. But they tried to find out what the sound was. They parted the bush and were very surprised there was a frog. They were not scared anymore and continued walking through the jungle and finally the found a beautiful waterfall.

 

T: Students, it’s time for story telling. Do you want to hear a story?


S: Yes miss


T: (Start the story telling)

The title of the story is “Walking through the Jungle”. (Teacher shows the storybook) This is Marsha and this is tom.

One day, Tom and Marsha walking through the jungle. Along the way, Tom and Marsha saw a lot of bushes around them.

So students, these are bushes. A lot of bushes along the way.

But, they were not afraid. They kept walking and walking. In the middle of the jungle, Tom and Marsha felt tired and stopped near the river.

T: (Write the letter F on Hasna’s back) Now, Hasna write the letter on Caca’s back.

T: Okay, Ega, what is the letter?


S: I think F miss.


T: Are you sure?

Air Writing

 

T: Now, everybody please stand up! Now we will write the letter F, G, W, P, and the letter H on the air. So, not on the paper but on the air. That’s easy students because we are not writing with your pen. Are you ready students?


S: Yes miss


T: Everybody put your hand up. Okay, follow me! (Writes the letter F in the air) Now, make a stick first. Start from the top, turn down and make a straight line. Yes right! We have a stick now.  Put your hand up again students, from the top of the stick make a line to the right. We have a line in the top of the stick. Now from the middle of the stick make a line to the right. We make a second line. Once again, from the top make the line to the bottom. From the top make a line to the right. From the middle make a line to the right. Then go back to the top again, make a line from the left to the right. Then, turn down to the middle of the straight line, and make a line from the left to the right again.


S: (Follow the teacher to make the letter F on the air).


T: Very good. It is the letter F.


 

T: Now, put your hand up again students. We will write the letter G. Okay, start from this position, turn down and make a half circle. Then, from the middle of make a straight line to connect. (Writes the letter G on the air)


S: (Follow the teacher to make the letter G on the air)


T: Good students! It is the letter G.


 

T: Put your hand up again. Now, let’s write the letter W. Start from the top, make a diagonal line down. Then we will do a diagonal line up. Then another diagonal line down.  And a diagonal line up again. (Writes the letter W on the air)


S: (Follow the teacher to make the letter W on the air)


T: Good job students. It is the letter W.


 

T: Now put your hand up again students. Now, let’s write the letter P.


S: (Put their hand up)


T: Now, make a stick first. Start from the top, turn down and make a straight line. Yes right! We have a stick now.  Put your hand up again students, from the top of the stick, make a half of circle around.


S: (Follow the teacher to make the letter P)


T: Good students. It is the letter P.

 


T: Now, put you hand up again students! Let’s write the letter H.


S: (Put their hand up)


T: Start from the top, turn down and make a straight line. Yes right! Then, from the middle of the stick make a line to the right. Then, make another straight line.


S: (Follow the teacher to make the letter H)


T: Good job students. It is the letter H.

 

Recognizing the letter

 

T: (Hands out a paper to each student) OK, students, look at this paper. There are 14 boxes here. 7 boxes on the left and another 7 boxes on the right. What you need to do is to search then circle the same letter on the right box. For example, there is the letter D in the first box. Now, where is the letter F on the right box?


S: (Point at the letter F)


T: This one? That’s right. Good job students! Now, move to the second box. Look for the same letter on the right column and then circle it. (The letter is G)


S: (Circle the letter G)


T: Good job students! Now, look for the letter W on the right column and then circle it.


S: (Circle the letter W)


T: Yes, right students. Very good.  Now, look for the letter P on the right column and then circle it.


S: (Circle the letter P)


T: Very good! Now, look for the letter H on the right column and then circle it.


S: (Circle the letter H)


T: Okay, good job students!

 

 

Tracing Alphabet

Teacher: Students, look at this paper. There are incomplete alphabets. Now, everyone please trace the alphabets. Like this, there is a F, right? So, we start making the straight line from the top to the bottom. Then, make another straight line from the left to the right. And from the middle, make a straight line form the left to the right. (Demonstrates the way to trace the letter F) There you go. Now I have a F. Do you understand students?

T: Now, please continue to trace the other alphabets.

T: Now, please make the circle


S: (Make the circle)


T: Okay, I will throw the ball to one of you and then the students who get the ball must guess the letter I show you. Do you understand students?

T: The student who can answer correctly will get a point and the student who answered incorrectly has to sing a song. Okay?

T: (Throw the ball) Okay, Hasna, I throw the ball to you. Now, guess what letter is this? (Show the H card)
